Johan Cruyff Institute establishes itself as Academic Partner of WFS17

Johan Cruyff Institute will participate as Academic Partner at the World Football Summit 2017, the landmark event for the international football industry

On 16 and 17 October, the Goya Theater in Madrid will host the World Football Summit 2017 (WFS17), the international convention on the football industry. This second edition will have more than 2,000 attendees from 70 different countries, who will listen to more than 60 top-level speakers, who will discuss highly topical issues in the football industry.

The Johan Cruyff Institute aims to train the next generation of leaders in the sports industry. With a significant presence in Europe and Latin America, more than 7,000 students worldwide have participated in its academic programs on sport management, sport marketing, sponsorship, coaching and football business. Its programs are directed by professionals from the industry and it offers work opportunities for its students to put the knowledge they acquire into practice.

During WFS17, topics of great interest for the football industry will be discussed, such as China’s football boom, the rise of women’s football, sponsorship as a source of income, fan engagement, TV rights, innovation and new technologies in football. There will also be a debate on whether the rules of this sport should change. Attendees will enjoy football success stories, with Football Club – Provider two-way talks.

Following the success of the first edition, the Johan Cruyff Institute will increase its presence at the convention, becoming the Academic Partner of WFS17. The two entities will collaborate throughout the year to make visible and realize their respective objectives, both in Spain and internationally.

About the World Football Summit
The World Football Summit (WFS) is the largest international football convention in Spain. In its first edition in 2016, it attracted 1,373 participants, 12% of whom came from abroad. The second edition, which will be held on 19 and 20 October 2017 in Madrid, already has important support from entities such as Marca España, the Community of Madrid, La Liga and UNICEF.
