Cruyff Legacy 14K Run in Amsterdam: celebrating Johan’s memory

Thousands of runners will take part in the Cruyff Legacy 14K Run, a unique sporting event in Amsterdam held in commemoration of our founder Johan Cruyff and celebrating his legacy

At 2.14 p.m. sharp, on Saturday May 11, 2019, the Cruyff Legacy 14K Run will kick off to the familiar sound of cheers reverberating around the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam, as thousands of runners take to the track in this unique sporting event: a sociable and enjoyable race as a celebration of the legacy of Johan Cruyff.

The academic legacy of Johan will be present through the participation of students, alumni and professors of the international academic network of the Johan Cruyff Institute, Johan Cruyff College, and Johan Cruyff Academy. All students are welcome to participate and celebrate this day and will receive a special discount.

The Cruyff Legacy 14K Run will finish in the Johan Cruijff ArenA and the route will pass by locations that were special to Johan Cruyff. Participants will be able to enjoy an audio tour, to learn all about these Johan Cruyff ‘hotspots’. The Cruyff Legacy 14K Run is organized by the Johan Cruyff Foundation, as a fundraising event to help more children to play and participate in sport.

The first edition of the event took place in 2016. This year, for the first time, there will also be a 14K Walk that will take place in the morning of the same day. Furthermore, there will be both a 5K Run and a Kids Run. Anyone, both young and old, businesses or private individuals, can take part in this event organized to remember Johan Cruyff and continue his legacy.
