The ROC Nijmegen received yesterday around 70 teachers and staff from the Cruyff Network to share the educational model of athletes
This Thursday, November 24th, wasn’t a normal day of class for our Dutch academic network. The ROC Nijmegen, where the Johan Cruyff College Nijmegen is located, opened its doors to receive approximately 70 teachers and staff from the Cruyff network, who day by day transmit a different way of teaching: an educational system that, based on the essence of when Johan Cruyff devised it, takes into account the needs and particularities of the education of athletes. The day brought together members from each level of education, from the vocational (Johan Cruyff Colleges), to the bachelor (Johan Cruyff Academies) and the Masters level (Johan Cruyff Institute).
In the morning, the illusionist and mentalist Jochem Nooyen showed the participants the level to which influence can reach, with a performance called ‘Influencing’. In the afternoon, it was the turn of Henk Groener, the professor of the Master in Coaching and until last season coach of the Dutch women’s handball team, who offered attendees a workshop on ‘Cruyffian’ coaching.

The event at the Johan Cruyff College Nijmegen helped all the staff to pool their ideas on the ‘sport & studies’ educational model and also to learn how the specialized magazine ‘Match’ is produced. Being an academic institution, what better way to end the day than participating in the ‘Big &Fat Johan Cruyff Quiz’, with a souvenir prize for the winner?
