Johan Cruyff Institute and VVV-Venlo sign a partnership agreement and make the Institute’s offer of academic programs available to all staff members and players of the Dutch football club
VVV-Venlo and Johan Cruyff Institute have activated a two-way collaboration after signing an official partnership agreement on November 12. Through the signing of the collaboration agreement, the VVV-Venlo staff and players will obtain a significant discount on all the academic programs offered by Johan Cruyff Institute in sport management, sport marketing and sponsorship, football business and coaching. In addition, both parties will work together in the field of internships, job vacancies and case studies, among others.
VVV-Venlo is a professional football club based in the south of the Netherlands. The first team has already been playing in the Eredivisie for three seasons in a row. Well-known players who played for VVV-Venlo are John de Wolf, Willem Janssen, Dick Advocaat, Tijjani Babangida, Gerald Sibon, Keisuke Honda and Steven Berghuis. From 2010 to 2012, the club had a women’s team in which Dutch internationals Daniëlle van de Donk and Lieke Martens played.
Roger Bongaerts, head of the youth academy, recently studied the Master in Coaching at Johan Cruyff Institute in Amsterdam and believes that “the partnership is the next step towards the development of the youth academy and our club. By creating more depth, consciousness and responsibility among the coaches and players in relation to their own learning process, the youth academy can remain distinctive. The Master in Coaching has helped me enormously with my own development. The program has enabled me to use my qualities better. The goal is to spread this club-wide. We are looking forward to this collaboration.”
