PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord will share the 14 scholarships that Johan Cruyff Institute awards to the League and Cup champions, respectively, continuing the educational legacy of Johan Cruyff
Johan Cruyff Institute will keep its appointment one more year with the Dutch Super Cup, on August 4 at the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven. In this year’s final, PSV Eindhoven will face Feyenoord, as champions of the Dutch League and Cup, respectively, in the first official match of the season and Johan Cruyff Institute will be present to continue promoting the educational work of Johan Cruyff’s legacy.
The Institute will grant 14 scholarships, seven to each team, for its online courses in Sport Management Fundamentals or Football Business Fundametals, which can be accessed by both staff members and players, at the decision of the board of directors of each club. The trophy has been named the Johan Cruyff Shield since 1996, in honor of our founder.
The scholarships awarded in the 2017 edition went to Vitesse and Feyenoord. The Feyenoord midfielder Jens Toornstra was one of those who decided to take the opportunity and chose the Sport Management Fundamentals course. “It was very interesting, especially the module on leadership, because you learn different models and how to apply them, depending on whether it’s a sports organization or a team. Now I’m more aware of the role I play within my team,” says Jens.
