A group of students, composed of professors and doctors from Negeri Semarang University of Indonesia, traveled to Barcelona to carry out the Certificate Program in Sports Analytics at Johan Cruyff Institute
For a week, students had the opportunity to learn from the best experts in the field during Certificate Program in Sports Analytics classes. The training was given by Raúl Peláez, CEO of Ailite, a company specializing in the organization and execution of processes for analyzing sports performance. The program covered the industry from different perspectives, with classes on analytics in athletics, basketball, and football. In addition, it included a visit to the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper and the Johan Cruyff Stadium, where students received a Marketing, Innovation, and Analytics class at FC Barcelona.
The main objective of this program was to train students, teachers, and doctors in the use of data to make objective and measured decisions in the management of athletes, fans, and sports organizations. In this way, the students of Negeri Semarang University obtained a comprehensive vision of the digital transformation in the world of sport and the use of data to improve the competitiveness of teams and athletes.
“Students have been able to enter the world of Sports Analytics, especially the one that refers to high sports performance,” says Raúl Peláez, professor of the program. “Not only have they learned the basics of this discipline, they have also assimilated everything related to data processing. They have conceptually accessed advanced statistics and artificial intelligence techniques, with special attention to computer vision. They have delved into everything related to the visualizations of the indicators, graphics, and ways of delivering the results. Finally, they learned about the latest trends and technologies ranging from genetic analysis, emotional analysis, and generative AI.” This theoretical knowledge was complemented by high-level masterclasses where experts from different fields showed real use cases in competitive sport.
Raúl Peláez, a professor at the Sports Analytics Certification Program, has extensive professional experience in the industry. He served as Head of Sports Technology, Innovation & Analysis at F.C. Thanks to this, students at Negeri Semarang University were able to update themselves on the latest technologies, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and data visualization. In addition, each agenda item was presented by an expert, who shared success stories.
