A new generation of students begins their studies at Johan Cruyff Institute, inaugurating an academic season full of novelties and new projects
In the 2024-2025 academic period, Johan Cruyff Institute reaffirms its commitment to educational excellence, welcoming 92 students from 39 different countries, who will have the opportunity to train in an environment that combines theory and practice. This new academic year started with the Kick-off 2024 in Barcelona, welcoming the new students of the Master in Sport Marketing and Management Blended, the Master in Football Business in partnership with FC Barcelona, the Master in Sport Business Blended and the University Master’s Degree in Sports Management Barcelona.
At the Kick-off 2024, the students received a warm welcome at the Club Natació Barcelona, where they enjoyed a day full of sports activities, both on the sand playing volleyball and in the water practicing paddle surf. The General Manager of Johan Cruyff Institute, Albert Romans, and the Academic Director, Víctor Jordán, welcomed the new students, stressing the importance of making the most of every opportunity for learning and collaboration during their academic training.
Both highlighted the crucial role that this new graduating class will play in the transformation of the sports industry, encouraging the students to apply the values of effort, innovation and teamwork that characterize the philosophy of Johan Cruyff Institute. The day concluded with a networking session, where the students were able to get to know each other better and share their expectations for the academic year that has just begun.
As part of the start of the 2024-2025 academic year, the Opening Ceremony was also held with the students of the Master in Football Business in partnership with FC Barcelona. Present at the ceremony was Nacho Mas-Bagà, Program Director and CEO of Girona FC, who encouraged the students to make the most of the Master’s opportunities: “I encourage you to work as a team. We will form different groups to tackle different projects and management, in which you will take on different responsibilities. Make the most of being so close to FC Barcelona, as it is an extraordinary opportunity. In addition, during the study trips, not only visit the club, but also learn as much as you can”.
Víctor Jordán, Academic Director of Johan Cruyff Institute, was also present at the Opening Ceremony and highlighted the teamwork and synergy between the students and the Master’s academic team: “From now on, we are part of the same team. We are going to wear the same shirt. You will be in the industry for nine months and will have contact with more than 75 club professionals, and different properties. We want you to understand what happens in a third division club as well as in a top European club.” The first class of the Master in Football Business in partnership with FC Barcelona was given by Sergi Vieta, Managing Director of SPORTFIVE Iberia and former director of Granada CF.
With this new generation of students, Johan Cruyff Institute renews its commitment to quality academic training, in which students receive a rich learning experience, practical knowledge, and a comprehensive vision of the industry, preparing them to lead innovative projects and meet the challenges of the global sports sector.
