Teachers, managers and staff of the Johan Cruyff Academies met in Amsterdam to strengthen their mutual cooperation
On Thursday November 23, a meeting was held for the first time for the teachers, managers and staff of the three Dutch Johan Cruyff Academies in Amsterdam, Groningen and Tilburg: the Johan Cruyff Academy Forum 2017. During the event, current developments in sport management practices were discussed, and Peter Jansen, chairman of the Johan Cruyff Colleges, presented their network structure in the Netherlands. There was also time for an informal get-together at a joint dinner.
Harry van Dorenmalen, a special invitee to the event, gave a talk. Harry has had an impressive career at IBM Corporation, where he has held the position of managing director IBM the Netherlands and director of IBM Benelux since 2005. He has also been vice-chairman and chairman of IBM Europe since 2010. In his long career, he has built up extensive expertise in the fields of business development, transformation, information technology and marketing & communication.
In addition to his management tasks, he is involved in numerous economic and social initiatives. For instance, he was appointed chairman of TopTeam Sport (sport innovator) by the Dutch minister of health, welfare and sport, Edith Schippers, to lead the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda for Sport for the upcoming years. Furthermore, he is chairman of the IT committee set up by the VNO employers’ organization and he is a member of the Amsterdam Economic Board.Harry van Dorenmalen is also an active promoter of diversity in business. In recognition of his social and international efforts, in March 2017 he was made an Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
The Johan Cruyff Academy Forum 2017 started at 4 p.m. and was held in the Amsterdam ArenA, which is not only one of the most emblematic stadiums in the Netherlands, but also the second largest congress center in Amsterdam.
