On Wednesday September 16th former team member of the Dutch National bobsleigh team and athlete Urta Rozenstruik and Canoeing coach Niels Hoekstra will start with the Master in Sports Management and the Master in Coaching at Johan Cruyff Institute. Both received a scholarship to follow these Master programs. Telesport supports Johan Cruyff and his Institute’s mission to educate athletes to keep them within sports once their active sporting careers come to an end.
Jaap de Groot of chief editor Telesport says: “As a l observer of Dutch top sports I have regularly criticized the management of sports organizations and clubs. After the establishment of the Cruyff Institute Telesport saw it as its moral duty to contribute to the improvement of the sports management level in the Netherlands. Dutch sports await those who not only understand the sport, but also understand the management of a sports organizations. This is the reason Telesport gives Urta and Niels a scholarship for the coming year.”
Urta Rozenstruik is a Dutch star athlete and former team member of the Dutch National bobsleigh team. She started her athletic career as a youth athlete at the Amsterdam athletics AAC. She developed herself as a sprinter and won a bronze medal at the national indoor championships in Ghent on 60 meters. In 2002 she moved from athletics to the international bobsleigh sport. In 2006, she went with the Dutch bobsleigh team to the Olympic Games in Turin. She is currently an athletics trainer and trainer coordinator at Phanos Amsterdam. Moreover, she works as a trainer coordinator at AV Passat in Papendrecht.
Niels Hoekstra is a former top canoeist and currently coach of a canoeing team. He was successful in the Men`s double canoe and achieved successes in various national and international competitions. His carreer came to an end when he got glandular fever in 2006. Since 2009 he is a fulltime physiotherapist at Evean Oostergouw and that he is ambitious to let his loved canoeing sport grow in the Netherlands. By training and coaching the junior ( 16-18 years) and senior ( 18+) teams at canoe association Vikings Amsterdam, preparing them for European and Worldchampionships as well as the Olympics he is making his contribution to the sport.
