Mechiel Versluis started the Master in Coaching thanks to AEGON

On Wednesday, September 16th, 2015 Dutch top rower Mechiel Versluis started the Master in Coaching at Johan Cruyff Institute. Mechiel received a scholarship from AEGON to attend this Master program and develop his coaching skills. AEGON helps to achieve the mission of Johan Cruyff so athletes can contribute to the sport sector after their sports career.

Mechiel Versluis is one of the Dutch top rowers. Versluis started his rowing career in 2007 at RSVU Okeanos in Amsterdam and also represented the Netherlands in several major International competitions with whom he achieved success. He won silver at the World Cup in 2010 in the eight with coxswain. He was European and World Champion in 2013 with the men’s coxless four and finished 5th in the men’s coxless four at the London Olympic Games 2012. In addition to rowing , he finished HBO Sports , Management & Business at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam and in 2013 he started with a trainingsprogram to become a coach at the KNRB.
