Johan Cruyff Institute holds intervision session with VVON football trainers

Last month, Johan Cruyff Institute introduced a large group of VVON-member football trainers to the Cruyffian vision on performing under pressure and leadership

Henk Verschuur, manager of the Johan Cruyff Institute Amsterdam and professor of the Master in Coaching, gave 60 football trainers – all of them members of the VVON, the Dutch football trainers’ union – an immersion into the Cruyffian vision on performing under pressure and leadership during an intervision session on November 21. The VVON has more than 4,000 members. The Frans Otten Stadium in Amsterdam was the setting for the evening.

The intervision session was organized by the VVON, together with Johan Cruyff Institute, and was led by Arnold Westen, the chairman of the union. He was very pleased with the event. “Both the group and I experienced the evening as a positive and very interesting training, which we would like to organize more often. The trainers were enthusiastic about the content, the set-up and Henk his input. I am happy with this fruitful collaboration”, said Westen.

“I noticed that the subjects were quite new to the participants, because it was not about others but related to themselves”

Henk Verschuur was very satisfied with the excellent attitude the trainers demonstrated during the intervision session and hopes the lessons learned will serve them in the future. “I noticed that the subjects were quite new to the participants, because it was not about others, but related to themselves. Afterwards, many trainers indicated that they had never looked at these two subjects in this way before, despite the fact that they have been in this business for a long time. This is because people usually tend to look at others instead of themselves. They found the clear way of talking to each other about their field of expertise in relation to themselves extremely valuable. I am very grateful to the VVON for having organized this successful event so well.”

Both parties intend to continue working together in the future to improve the training plan for VVON members.
