The South-African field hockey player, who also studies the Master in Sport Management at Johan Cruyff Institute Amsterdam, explains us how he transfers his knowledge from the sport field to the study field
This weekend the finals of the Hockey World League are celebrated in Raipur (India). Justin Reid-Ross dreamed of being in these finals with the South African team. Unfortunately the team didn’t make it to the World Cup. Dealing with failure and continuously improving oneself is part of being an elite hockey player. Justin proofs to be no different, and not only on the field:
“What you get from being a sportsman, is that you always want to be better. I think you can translate that into work life as well. You try to improve yourself and get better in what you are doing within your role at a company or in a team”, he says.
We interviewed Justin and asked him about his specialty, the penalty corner. How does he use these sports qualities in other aspects of life, when he is studying the Master in Sport Management? And what does he say about his career after hockey?
